For some years I have felt the need to explore the value of the sign, in details and contexts that alter the perception of it. Simple pictorial gestures describe dynamics, torsions, plastic forms, generate volumes, voids and solids, suggest absences, logics, lights and shadows. The spontaneity and immediacy of movement will omit portions of form that will exist in theoretical, ideal, logical territories. Fundamental absences to express temporary forms, delicate and almost transparent. It is not a calligraphic research but a pictorial one, based on a single, unrepeatable, compelling gesture. There is the design phase, in which the gesture is studied, adjusted, fixed, perfected or abandoned. The preparatory phase in which the gesture or sequence of gestures is metabolized. The executive phase is rapid, often immediate. Experience with studies of stage design have led me to consider with interest locations such as large public spaces. By applying complementary light sources on canvases of large dimensions, I create the ideal conditions to perceive a physical dynamic of colour, form and the composition itself of the works. This is the reason why my exhibitions are often installations integrated with space, light, even sound, to transmit a dynamic sensorial experience. The elements of Active Colours / Conventional Colours, Black Light / conventional light, interact without ever forming a stable frame of reference. |
